check out the reviews of each camera at Imaging Resource

They also have a great feature on their site where you can comp[are the images taken from each camera, side by side. It's called compare-o-meter.

Once you find the camer you want, GO LOOK AT IT. I was so bent on getting the Minolta Dimage 7 until i saw it, turned out the body (IMO) was horribly designed.

Good luck.

for what it's worth to you, I bought a g3 a few months ago and have just come back from a 3 month trip abroad. I absolutely love my g3, the first digital camera I've owned.

One of the best things is that the battery life is around 400 shots and you can get replacement batteries for $13 off ebay and a lightweight charger for around $25.

I have nothing but good things to say about it.

Just a happy customer.

I have the G2 (the model before the G3) and one of the selling points for me was the UNBELIEVABLE battery life.

It uses the same battery as some of their mini-dv camcorders. The other feature I needed was an extended shutter speed with noise reduction. The canon has it. Also I like the size of the canon. I have big hands and it feels like a traditional film camera.

I also looked at the dimage and was going to get it, but had the chance to borrow one. I didn't like it at all. I simply could not take a night photo that looked good.

Check both out if you can. Nikon and Canon make good cameras. You'll probably be happy with either.
