Is there any way to convert MPEG files to MOV without losing the audio?? I've got a bunch of music videos I've downloaded which are .mpeg format, and I want to include them in a DVD, but as far as I know I can only import .mov or .dv files into iDVD.... I've downloaded a few conversion programs, but I always lose the audio when I do that, which defeats the purpose of "music" video! Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Mpeg-1 files with sound must be demultiplexed into separate video and sound track files. Check www.versiontracker.com for a freeware called BBDemux. Run it and you will now have a video track with a .m1v extension and an audio track with a .m1a extension. Use a sound utility like SoundApp (freeware) to convert the sound file into an AIFF file. Open the m1v video and the AIFF files, copy the AIFF data to the clipboard, then use "Add Scaled" from the edit menu to add the sound to the video. You now will be able to convert both the sound and video to the formats of your choice.
Here is the SoundApp Home Page:

To more directly answer your question... if you really want to convert from mpeg-->mov for whatever reason:
1) Quicktime Pro... load the mpeg and click on flie/export. This only works w/ the Pro version though.
2) Media Cleaner... an expensive piece of software, but it converts almost every type of media file known to man.
Other than that you can just go the demuxing route as pointed out above.
Thanks,
Alex

You are kind of missing the point of his message. Just doing what you suggest above in "1 " will give you video but not audio. Having QT Pro does not avoid the need to demux and of course it is necessary to have Pro to carry out the suggested procedures.

also to avoid demuxing you can use ffmpegX to convert to avi (use a very high bitrate to avoid losing quality), and then Divx Doctor to quickly switch from avi to mov (be sure to un-check "make standalone movies")
