Hi, I have a ti 550 powerbook with an external cd burner. How do I burn mpeg files (videos etc.) to cd? Do I have to buy cd burning software or can I do it with internal software like imovie?

what do you want to do with them? if you just want to back them up as a data cd, you can use the finder to burn. However, Toast Titanium is a solid investment, as it can burn all sorts of CDs (and dvds). For example, if you wanted to burn your mpgs as a VCD and have them play in a dvd player, you would need Toast.

I mostly want to put them on storage so i can free up some hd space on my computer. But I also want to be able to access them by just putting the burned cd back into my computer. How do I use finder to burn them onto cd?

Ive never actually burned through the finder, because I own Toast, but I believe it goes like this: First, be sure you have enough disk space free as what you are trying to burn, because the finder will make a whole new image, and thus duplicate the files that you are trying to burn. Insert your blank cd-r, which should mount on your desktop, and click the like prepare to burn button. Drag all the stuff you want to burn onto that image. Then in the apple menu there should be a pull down "burn" option. I could be wrong, but I think that's how it goes.
