Digital Media Academy Among the First in U.S. to Offer Final Cut 4 Training

Courses Begin June 23rd at Stanford University

CAMPBELL, CA, June 17, 2003 -- The Digital Media Academy (DMA) will be among the first organizations in the country to provide training in Apple’s new Final Cut Pro 4 video/film editing software. DMA’s 5-day immersion courses will be held June 23 through August 15, 2003 at Stanford University.

The latest version of Apple’s industry-standard Final Cut Pro application was publicly released on June 14 of this year. DMA is one of the few programs that have been certified by Apple to teach Final Cut Pro 4. In order to achieve certification, DMA’s instructors had to receive rigorous training from Apple. “People have come to expect the highest caliber training available from DMA,” said Phil Gibson, DMA’s founder and president. “We’re pleased to be one of the first locations in the country to offer courses on Final Cut 4.”

The Digital Media Academy provides a range of training and professional development in subjects such as video editing, computer animation and web design. Courses are designed for “adult learners”--including teens, college students, k-20 educators and industry professionals—and take place in summer retreat and “camp” environments at prestigious universities such as Stanford. DMA attracts participants not only for of the high caliber of the courses but also for the experience of spending a week or more at these institutions. This approach also allows DMA to recruit a top-flight faculty including award-winning filmmakers, photographers, artists, web designers, and 3D animators. DMA instructors include Ben Waggoner (known as "the world's greatest compressionist"), New York School of Visual Arts' Steve Adler, and veteran ABC producer and best-selling Final Cut Pro author Tom Wolsky, among others.

DMA course topics include Desktop Movies with Final Cut Pro, Advanced Editing with Final Cut Pro, Photoshop for Video & Web, Web Design, Flash Authoring, 3D Animation & Game Design, Video Compression and more. DMA's 5-day immersion courses offer a challenging and exciting project-based learning experiences, in which every student gets a chance to learn in context by working on and producing actual projects through the week. Students get hands-on experience with state-of-the-art tools in sessions that are both relaxed and engaging. By week's end, attendees leave with impressive projects, new creative tools, newfound friendships, and a concrete sense of accomplishment.

Stanford Continuing Studies credit and housing and dining options on the Stanford campus are available. Visit the DMA on the web at www.DigitalMediaAcademy.org <http://www.digitalmediaacademy.org/> or call toll-free (866) 656-3342.
