Hi, I have someone who's interested in moving up to a pro/semi-pro package to handle his original loop based music. What would be the best best- Cubase, Logic Audio, Modu?
Any input appreciated. Thanks.

If he's running a mac, I would say Logic, as Apple owns that product, and its likely to take the most advantage of all the tweaks and other nice apple things available.
If he's semi-pro or whatever there shouldn't be an issue with it not having enough of this type of effect or that effect.
It seems to be a decent product. Definately look into alternatives though. It might be good to have a better idea of what your friend wants to do, as well.

Loop based? Probably Ableton Live or Reason.
The other apps such as Logic Audio, Cubase Sx, MOTU Digital Performer will work, but they aren't aimed at making loop-based music as much as multi-track audio and midi compositions. But depending on what features he wants, they might be the way to go.

And yes, check osxaudio out, or iChat room osxaudio.
