iMovie needs a DV stream and 720x480 resolution. I don't believe the iBot either captures or outputs that.

The new version of iMovie in iLife 4 can use an iSight directly and it seems to convert to DV right after recording has ceased. Jobs demoed it at the keynote on Tuesday. It may be possible to use other firewire webcams as well but I wouldn't hold my breath.

iMovie will only accept an NTSC or PAL stream - The iBot produces neither.

OK found a workaround for iBot

Download Camspinner (great, intuitive webcam app) it's in freeware as a beta for now.

Record/Capture stream with Camspinner -- plenty of compression codecs available including Sorenson3 and MPEG 4.

Stream is saved as Quicktime

Drag Quicktime clips into iMovie
