Thanks for the detective work.
I was going to go over the specs more carefully, but I've spent so much effort just waiting for MP support, I was too tired to read anymore.
For the record, I think AE rocks. Lack of MP support is (was) my only gripe.

What's the main difference (advantage?) of discreet combustion over AE?

i love after effects!!!! and each update is amazing.
the difference i have seen mainly in after effects and combustion is that combustions built in particle engine.
super hot and unbelievable effects without even trying

Combustion's the more professional, and IMO, the far better product, but After effects is probably used more in facilites.
Combustion has the benefit of getting advanced features ported down to it from its higher end cousins, like Inferno and Flame; the keyer and colour correction tools just being 2 of them
I prefer Combustion compared to AE, but try them both out adn see waht you think.
