I have some vob files that I want to edit, and string together, then later burn on a DVD, can Final cut pro do this?

Thanks!

Dang, too bad. Know of a program that can do what I'm looking for? Or how to go about it?

Thanks again!

Sorry. I have not tried anything like this myself - if there is a way that you could convert the .vob files to some other QT standard format tehn you could edit in FCP, but that is probably more work than you want to do...

Perhaps you could do something like this with DVD studio pro?

Anyone?

if you have a DV camera you could record the output of a DVD player with the parts of the DVDs you want to edit. Good deal of quality loss though.

Also, most DVDs have macrovision - trying to copt yo DV will not work for more than a few seconds....

No, I have vob files without any copy protection. I am not trying to pirate movies here, believe it or not. :-)

well I guess you could play the files and record your screen using snapz pro, and capture audio using audio hijack - but this is labour intensive.. I have done it before and it works though.... you will have to sycnh teh audio though, which can be a drag...
