Does anybody have any thoughts or experience with these new DVD-R/+R writers?

I think the LaCie is available now and the Pioneer will be soon.

Now that the DVD-R drive prices have hit pretty low thresholds I'm wondering whether it's worthwhile to go ahead and get a combo (-R/+R) drive instead.

What are the benefits? Is the +R media cheaper? Are you more likely to get compatibility with DVD players with +R? Do you think Apple will ever go with the combo drive? Is +R media cheaper? More reliant?

Does anybody have one of these yet?
