Hello everyone,
I'm looking to get a zoom lens for my Minolta DiMage S404. It has a 35.5mm thread, which is quite an odd measurement... after much looking, my local camera shop found a 35.5mm -> 43 mm converter, so I can use the normal 43mm to step up or down to pretty much any normal lens.
However, when using the Promaster series 2X lens they had in their store, I got a big black border around my image, with only a little circle of actual image peeping out from the middle of the frame. Even on full telephoto the black didn't go completely away - we figured this was due to going from a 35.5 -> 43 -> 39 (and the zoom lens itself was smaller than the full circle that would go onto the camera itself, if that makes sense).
What I'm looking for is a zoom lens that would either be as big as the 43mm or that would fit right onto my 35.5 mm lens.
Also, does anyone have any opinions on Promaster brand items? It's the off brand this particular camera store carries, so I've got a couple things with that brand on it.
Thanks to anyone who responds, and sorry for the length of this post!
