Greetings

I am trying to copy analogue video 8 tapes to miniDV using two camcorders.

My understanding is that I will get the best results by using an S-video link. This is what I am doing at the moment and the video copies but I get no sound.

I have verified my connections, inverted the cable but still no cigar.

So two questions:

1) Any suggestions on how to fix the above?

2) If I can't fix it, I could always try to copy using old RCA jacks (white, red, yellow). Am I likely to get a big drop in quality?

your post is unclear about this, but are you using an S-Video cable and RCA audio cables? S-Video is just that, video. not audio. To get audio, you still have to use traditional RCA (red/white) jacks. if you are using S-Video and RCA audio, and there's still no audio, then that's weird. check the settings on both cameras and make sure you don't have to change something in the output (or input)
