Web cams - Mac/PC

I would like to get a cheap Mac web cam and use it to talk with another person using a PC. I would like to know what web cams any of you would recommend and what software would allow the Mac and PC to work together?

Cheap is relative; bear in mind that while a USB-based webcam will be cheaper than a FireWire camera, it will also not perform as well.

As far as cross-platform apps, this thread has a couple of suggestions.
