Echoing k_munic, a wireless mic is a
requirement, I believe.
I shot a friend's wedding, and found one indespensible. The most important part of the ceremony is the vows. I had the groom wear one and clipped the lavalier to his left tux lapel. It picked up him, her, and the officiant (and the tears, laughter, etc.): high drama.
I bought a Samson
one that came with an inexpensive AudioTechnica mic (which I can upgrade at a later time, if I choose).
The less-expensive use VHF as a carrier, the more expensive, UHF. Crash-coursing on these, I learned from others' experience, that UHF is the way to go--less potential interference from outside sources.
Don't go cheaply into this, I think it's as crucial as the camera.

Feel free to PM or email me if you have any specific questions. After I got one under my belt, I might try to do another (for pay this time).
