PROBLEM: monitoring on NTSC television/Sony camera vs FCP3 canvas

I've made a number of adjustments to my project so it looks good on an NTSC television set and Sony camera display...but, since I changed the scaling and center point on FCP for a few different frames that seemed off, the underlying footage (or black background) is visible on the FCP canvas.

So, my questions are:
If it looks right on my tv set, is it going to look exactly the same on everyone else's NTSC televisions? Are all NTSC displays the same in this department?

If it looks right on my camera display, will it look exactly the same if I hook my camera up to a rear-projection unit and show the project on a big screen?

How come when I export to Quicktime the image matches the canvas and not my TV/camera?

Sorry for all the questions

EDIT: I just found that even my Sony camera is showing a little "canvas bleed" (mainly on the left side)..., if I move the image over anymore, certain things will be cut from my television display! What can I do to fix this?

Good questions all...

If it looks right on my camera display, will it look exactly the same if I hook my camera up to a rear-projection unit and show the project on a big screen?
Yep.

If it looks right on my tv set, is it going to look exactly the same on everyone else's NTSC televisions? Are all NTSC displays the same in this department?
Not exactly the same, but other people's TVs will look much closer to what you have on your NTSC monitor than what's in the Canvas.

How come when I export to Quicktime the image matches the canvas and not my TV/camera?
QuickTime shows all the info recorded by the camera; the NTSC monitor has a buffer zone around the outside that doesn't make it into the picture. I usually make (at least) two sequences in each FCP project--one to export to tape and one to export to QT. You can also turn on the "Title Safe" boundaries in your Canvas window--it's in the View dropdown menu (to the right of the Zoom dropdown menu). Nothing outside of the outer box (the "action safe" box) will show up on an NTSC monitor. Things outside the inner box (the "title safe" box) will show up but may be distorted.

This may not solve all your problems for the current project but hopefully it can help you in the future.

Plato--what's a "Chickie Run"?
