hello!

I have a 700Mhz, 256 MB RAM iBook that is just over a year old.

I am considering getting a Sony MD player with recording functions to record interviews for a school project but would need to know if it's possible to transfer the data onto my iBook first.

I have already bought an adaptor that makes it possible to hook my iBook up to multimedia/LCD projectors.

Qns:
Do I need to get another adaptor for pure audio from cassette players or MD players?

Will I need extra software? Are there softwares/ freewares that can slow down the playback? (will be immensely useful cos I'll be transcribing the interviews verbatim!)

Thanks!

cassette players have only analog output - you need something like griffins iMic to get your records into your iBook.

good md players offer a thing called "optical output" - you can buy adapters optical<>usb to transfer digital (best quality), look at your next apple store. or, if you buy an analog<>digital adapter as mentioned above, use the analog out of the md...-

for recording i recommend spark (versiontracker) it's free & good.

for slowing down look for "amazing slow downer" - very funny tool, shareware (for tryout, you can run it, just the last third of your recording doens't work)! it does exactly what is't named
