iMovie wont detect Samsung VP-D55

Im Trying To connect a samsung VP-D55 to my mac ( 1ghz g4 tower with 10.2.8) but iMovie just wont recognize it. I cant boot in os9 and import via iMovie 2 as some people have suggested. Is there any other way of connecting this camera to my mac? Thanks.
