I found this in Apple's "Made4 Mac" section. But when I called Pinnacle to get more info they claimed it wouldn't work with Mac. At 1st I assumed the salesperson wasn't familiar with Firewire converters, Mac, iMovie, etc. But the guy told me that the MovieBox DV has some sort of copy protection that prevents it from working with any software except their own PC software. And that includes other PC software too!!

Since I ran into something similar on Mac with my Formac Studio dv/tv (v1.07 firmware update killed Vidi compatibility), the MovieBox DV copy protection seemed reasonable. But if that's the case, why was it listed in the "Made4Mac" section? Several emails to Pineapplehead dist have gone unanswered. Does anyone here know one way or the other? This MovieBox DV is especially nice for my application - editing and archiving CCTV video with a G4 PowerBook at various jobsites. It's extremely small, bus powered, and supports monochrome video (according to Pinnacle). It would be a real shame if this didn't work on Mac.....joe

As far as I know, Combustion and CinéWave are the only two products Pinnacle makes for mac, and I worked there.

Were you working for Pinnacle when they bought the company that made the Hollywood Dazzle? I assumed the MovieBox DV was Pinnacle's replacement for the Dazzle. Well - aside from loosing Mac compatibility

I wish there was store around here with a MovieBox DV on display. It wouldn't take long to hook up my PowerBook, launch iMovie, and see if it was recognized. It just seems odd that a Mac distributor would sell the MovieBox DV if it wasn't compatible. They woudl've had quite a few complaints by now if it didn't work, right?......joe
