Here's the deal. My roommate was given a massive old monitor by a friend. 32" monster, I believe. Too bad it only runs 800x600. Hooked it up to my iBook and watched a DVD and it looked good. But it doesn't have a built-in TV tuner (which boggles my mind, but oh well). So we're looking for solutions.

I have an old Umax box with an ixTV tuner card in it, though the machine needs some work. Would really prefer not to have to boot a machine and mess with computer stuff to use the monitor as a TV. Does anyone know of a stand-alone TV tuner, and what it would cost? Unless someone manages to hack the ixTV card for OSX, I can't think of an elegant solution.

Get a cheap VCR and use that as a tuner.

It must have VGA, not composite.

tr, that's what I'm looking for. The unit only has VGA-in, which my VCR sure can't send to. Our digital cable box, likewise, only has the cable component out. Now to hunt down a deal...
