I'm no video guru, so maybe this is normal. Is it? I have a 60-min. mpeg-2 file. I fire up DiVA, select the source file, choose a destination, and choose an encoding (3ivx mpeg-4 encoder, released yesterday). The file size is fantastic (350MB, down from 1.5GB), but there's no audio.

DiVA doesn't support audio. For that, the best way I've found (for MPEG system streams) is the demux with bbDemux, naming the audio mp2 instead of m1a like bbDemux suggests, then use MadPlayWrap to convert to aiff, then QTPro to convert to aac/mpeg4. it's a little roundabout, but hard drives are cheap.
