Hey guys.. I have a problem here

I am trying to play some AVI's and I have tried all the usual things..

It doesnt play in Quicktime, VLC, MPlayer or WMP. I have actually tried everything that I can think of.

VLC, usually plays everything.. and it just slows down to a crawl and gives me this error:

main: ES does not belong to this input.

Which I have never seen before..

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

My guesses in order of likelihood are (1) it's a dummy file made to look like a real one by the MPAA or (2) it's a new bastardization of the avi format, like mpeg2-in-avi (although VLC could probably play that; do you have the latest version?) or (3) it's WMV3 or Indeo or some other obscure codec that ffmpeg hasn't picked up yet

try these things:

and copy the first page or two of your file from HexEdit into your post (the hex part, not the ascii part). And take a look through the rest of the file to make sure there's actually data in there and not just all zeros or FFs

PS: nice handle. I bet you can come up with a better sig than that!
