Can an OGM file be converted into something else? Like AVI or MOV?

the only way I've found is these things called ogmtools that include one called ogmdemux, that separates the ogm container file into its component streams. The files I had were xvid video and ogg vorbis audio, so it gave me out avi and ogg files. One file had ac3 and I got an ac3 file out. The tools are in source form, so you'll have to compile them yourself.

VLC can play these files and VLC also has the capability to transcode as well as demux and dump the video to disk. I've done this to save mpeg-2 files that had disk errors (finder couldn't copy). You have to go to their homepage and read up on it. It took me a while to figure out how, but it worked like a charm.
