My parents have decided to get my brother a video camera for christmas. I have been put in charge of selecting one. I want to find something in the $400 range that is compatible with iMovie and I have not yet been able to find anything that is indicated as "supported" by Apple.

I think that I should also get a FW HD as he doesn't have very much disk space. Any suggestions for external drives?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Go for the Canon ZR-60 from BH Photoo Video. The dispaly price is 499, but if you press "Give Me a Better Price" it reduces to 344.

Yeah--I looked through the list and I had heard of other cameras that had worked with iMovie. Was just wondering if there were any other cameras out there people had found.

The Canon ZR series are very good, economical mini dv cameras.

I had a ZR45 that I purchased from Circuit City as a display model a year ago for 250 bucks..... it got stolen from a suitcase (I know I know..never pack a camera....I learned the hard way)..

but for the short amount of time I had it it worked great!
