'Jolting' rendered transitions in iMovie

	Hi folks We're experiencing a pause entering transitions in iMovie. This is with an 867Mhz P/book, with 680MB RAM and a Lacie Firewire drive. The transition itself (a basic cross-dissolve, for example) takes place smoothly, but there is a nasty jolt as the playhead reaches it. Couldn't turn anything up with a search - any thoughts what might be causing this? The set-up should be more than capable.
