Hi gang,
I'm looking to purchase a Canopus AVDC-100 analogue/dv converter to go along with my brand spankin' new PowerBook G4 1.25ghz (lord, how I love this machine...). I was looking to hear some real-world comments and experience from those out there who have used this product so far, and what your thoughts are of it for capturing video, keeping sync, etc.
I've read good things from general forums, but I'd like to hear this forums' responses as well.
Many thanks,
travis

you should do a search in peripherals, or in this area. this topic has come up a lot, and the consensus is that this is a really good box. i use one at work (albeit on an XP box ), but i've taken it home to use, and works flawlessly. plus it has locked audio for long captures, and even outputs color bars if you need them.
i'd say it's one of the best DV converters out there.

It's awesome! I have it and works great, it's the one to get. Nothing better in it's price range. Good luck.

That looks incredible!!! It would come in very handy for importing video on the go to my 15" AlBook. I'm very much looking forward to your observations and comments
Also, please test if it can run bus powered. Suprisingly, most Firewire DV converters can't except for the Formac Studio series. So a compact, high quality DV convertor that can also operate bus powered would be a major benefit for PowerBook/iBook owners......joe
EDIT - nevermind I just ran that URL through Babel Fish and it does run bus powered!!! Anyone know when the ADVC-55 will be available state-side?

Sorry, I confused you. I have ordered the ADVC-100 which is still awesome on the inside
That 55 looks great but I can't wait for it. Only out in Japan in New Year
Try this site....

And look at over 150 comments on how good the 100 is...

The ADVC100 is too big for what I need and requires an external PS to operate. So I ended up going with the Imaging Resource DGF/1394-1. It's not a DV device. But it's small, portable, Firewire bus powered, and has excellent video quality. Hopefully the ADVC55 will make it to North America before too long and have the same high quality as the ADVC100.

I have the ADVC-50 and like it a lot.
I believe they use the same video digitizing
chip set.
