I am trying to burn a dvd that play back as 16:9.

3 source files i am using are mpeg 2, and play as 16:9 in QT and when a dvd is burnt using toast. I have the encoder settings in DVDSP set as 2 pass, 16:9, but after 3 tries, I only get a 4:3 dvd. any suggestions? thanks.

Is your source footage Anamorphic? If it is and you exported for DVD as 16:9, it stretches the video back to look correct on the computer, but not on the DVD. The correct procedure for anamorphic is to leave it squished and mark it as anamorphic in your DVD editing software, and your DVD player will play it at the correct aspect ratio.

If your source is only 16:9, then the only thing I know of is to manually leter box the file and burn a 4:3 DVD. This should look correct on both a widescreen TV (check your tv settings) and a normal TV. I think.

Thanks for the reply. Next question is how/where can I designate video as anamorphic? I have looked through fcp and dvd studio pro, and have not found where it is.

thanks.
