I have a Dual 2Ghz G5 (2Gb Ram / ATI 9800) and a 23" Cinema Display. I run 10.3.2 with the updated Firmware and everything else is up to date. Whenever I play a DVD, I get a kind of a «Matrix» effect. Green dots that flashes on and off. Sometimes there is a few, sometimes there is a lot. But they are always there. The problem was also there with 10.3.0. Everything else seems to work fine (I use mostly Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and FinalCut Pro).
Any idea?

See if you have the same issue playing big video files in QT. If so it sounds like the same problem I had on my PowerBook.

This G5 is used in a broadcast Post-production environement. So we use huge Quicktime files all the time with no problems. Full umcompressed, DV etc... The problem is only with DVD.

So, if you work with uncompressed a lot, are you using an uncompressed board like CinéWave or Igniter or something?

Kona SD. But before we installed the Kona board, we had the problem. Since we work a lot with After Effect, we often work without a realtime board.

Are you experiencing the same kind of problem as this?
Possible fix for DVD Player problems Some users have reported problems running DVD Player after upgrading to Mac OS X 10.3.2 - most commonly image distortion (one MacFixIt reader posted an image of the problem).
For users experiencing this specific problem (which seems to be related to some ATI graphics cards), trashing three preference files, ATI Monitor.plist, ATIMonitor.plist, and com.apple.DVDPlayer.plist, followed by a restart seems to resolve the problem.
