there is technical no way to determine the amount of storage BEFORE encoding: in this process, your media files are compressed. to give a cheap example: your video is 100 minutes plain green - to compress such a "movie" needs just a little space. example two: your movie is full of shakey camera & different music - resulting file size: BIG!

so, to give you any clue, apple recommends, to export just iMovies with 60min (to get high quality) and max of 90min, to fit them on a dvd-r (4.4.Gigs). this is all average, the compression apple is using is also average - you will never get the results like with compressor or prg like these.....

If toast titanium you have,
will graphically show
a progress bar of used/remaining

You can set it up there,
and then burn in iMovie
from the same
list.
All riddles are soluable: but perhaps not all by you.
