Hello all...just got a Series 2 TiVo for my girlfriend, and am looking for an easy way to archive the video off of it and burn onto SVCD.

What is the best/easiest/quickest way to do this? I have a G4 Cube running Panther and Toast 6. What hardware/software do I need?

Thanks in advance!

Ahhh, the Holy Grail.

I wish I wish I wish somebody could figure this out.

Me, no idea how, but have been searching for the answer.

This is how I do it:

DirecTiVo->DV camera->iMac->edit in iMovie->QuickTime->MPEG2->SVCD
A bit of a pain, but it works

What DV cam do you use? I tried that once, but my Sony seemed to have trouble with recording the image, almost as if the TiVo was sending a copy protection signal...

A Canon ZR40...and I have a DirecTV with TiVo unit if that makes any difference.

Wow, that sounds like a lot of trouble (the DV camera)

ReplayTVs = easier to do this with. (You can download right from in onto your mac with DVArchive)

And you can even encode video of your own into MPEG2 then make in ReplayTV friendly to use on the ReplayTV

So your ReplayTV has a Firewire out?
