I have a G4 PB and a 250GB Maxtor FW400 drive. The Maxtor currently contains 110GB of music files. I have a few questions relating to the absolute necessity of a separate scratch disk for video (even Apple states that the internal drive of any Powerbook G4 is acceptable for capturing and editing video with FCP4). Is it OK to capture and edit video on the remaining space on the Maxtor? Do I need to pick up another FW400 external drive which is used solely as a "scratch" disk? If so, should this scratch disk be completely wiped after finishing each project, or is it ok to have a drive for storage and capturing/editing video? Thanks.

well.. should be just okay.

A couple things to consider, the FW400 bus speed, fragmentation of the external hard drive, and the sleep mode of the external hard drive.
