I have seen many threads about getting your music through your home stereo and I have checked at the slimp3 and it's newer model. I am prepared to get one of these, but was thinking about another solution.

Here is my question - will the music sound as good just using iTunes sharing and my spare mac - Tibook 667 dvi connected via the powerwave to the stereo. (or any mac for that matter)? Does this compare favorably to using the networked players (like Slimp3, or the new Roku sound bridge)?

Does your amp/receiver have a digital input? If the answer is yes then it may sound better since you would avoid the extra digital to analog and analog to digital conversions.
