Merging Nova "String Theory" movies

So I downloaded all 24 of the individual QuickTime movies that represent the three hours of video for the Nova special on String Theory. I though it was pretty annoying to have 8 files for one hour of show, so I thought I'd just combine the video into one file... but I'm thinking that they're copy protected? I can't seem to copy and paste in QuickTime or open them up in iMovie, so I'm thinking that's the case.

Is there some other alternative so that I can have the movie play continutously without me having to switch between movie files? Perhaps some type of linked QuickTime file (I think it supports that)?

Thanks,
Matt Fahrenbacher

you can make playlists of movies in apps like VLC, Cellulo, or Metadata Hootenanny (which is not really for this and I wouldn't mention it except that I wrote it so I can help with it if you have any trouble)

Or the movies might not be copy protected at all...can you point me to a sample?

Here's a curl command that will download them all

Code:
curl http://a768.g.akamai.net/5/768/142/3f9e9589/1a1a1afb6ae049ae214fc034aad839a91985ea187bea5786f362d841a61948bf2688f01f87fb6fdf0e7ceb61c22186fb/nova_eu_30[12-14]c[01-08]_mp4_300.mov -o universe#1_#2.mov
To get just one:

Code:
curl http://a768.g.akamai.net/5/768/142/3f9e9589/1a1a1afb6ae049ae214fc034aad839a91985ea187bea5786f362d841a61948bf2688f01f87fb6fdf0e7ceb61c22186fb/nova_eu_3012c01_mp4_300.mov -o universe12_01.mov
Thanks,
Matt Fahrenbacher

yeah, looks like they're copy protected, but VLC can play them just fine, so you should be able to watch them all in a row even if you can't save them that way

kinda off, but do those terminal commands work for you? i keep getting 'invalid URL'/'couldn't resolve host' errors.

i had no idea that they put the elegant universe on their site for viewing...that was a really good nova.

You're getting an error because UBB is making what should be one line of code into two. Just copy and paste the first line in your terminal, then copy and paste the second line, then hit return.
