I am a complete newbie in this field and just got me a Sony TRV-19 for my PB 12" 867. Is there any webiste where I could get some hints on how to convert a dv file (12 GB for an hr!!) to a compressed version which can then be burned into a DVD-R?

Isn't this built into Toast? I have been searching this forum and could not find any info on this subject. Basically, I would just like to burn a 90-min video from my camcorder into a DVD-R. Of course when I tried to burn an imported dv video directly from Toast, it tells me there is not enough space on my DVD-R.

connect camera, turn camera on, open iMovie, create a new project, put iMovie in Import mode if not already there, import movie, set chapter markers if you wish, save, click Create iDVD project, iDVD opens, burn DVD.

If you do not have the SuperDrive, you are SOL on using iDVD.
