Anyone have an idea how to deal with this?
I've got a CD with a hidden track that you access in the cd player by starting Track 1 and then rewinding it past 0:00, to something like -4:30. Unfortunately, iTunes, QTime, Audion, etc. don't allow you to back up beyond the zero point, and I can't find a way in any program to rip the hidden part of the track...
I even tried to edit this Track 1 in Peak, but the entire thing just plays as static (copyprotection?), so I have no way of knowing if/where the hidden track is.
Really frustrating. I realize that I could just record audio-in from a player that can rewind and play the hidden track, but I would really like to rip it straight... Thanks!

It's called "HoboSapiens," by John Cale. Damned artsy-fartsy primo donno...

I got a CD that was supposed to have a track like that. The liner notes say: "Rewind 2:20 before the first song..."
On my disc, the track actually shows up in iTunes at the END of the disc, and it's called: (untitled track).

Wow, usually I hate hidden tracks (what's the point?) but that's a pretty cool way to do it.
Maybe try making a disc image with Toast or Disc Copy and then extracting the track. Maybe, I dunno.

The CD does seem to be copy protected, although this shouldn't be the problem provided you can rip the other tracks in iTunes.
I found this thread that has some info. It suggests using cdrdao to rip the track. You should be able to use MissingMediaBurner or FireStarter FX for this.
Then again, you can also use cdrdao through Terminal if you wish.
The thread's got suggestions on the particular commands to use, but it sounds like you want to rip track 0, which should target the "empty" data before track 1.

thanks, dtriska. It's going to take me a while to figure out these programs, I'm afraid! Not sure I see how to do it in Firestarter, and MMB doesn't recognize my burner...
