Hi, I'm trying to edit a screen capture movie taken with Snapz Pro in iMovie. But when I import the .mov file created by Snapz into iMovie, the quality deteriorates drastically. What am I doing wrong?

What's the format of the Snapz movie? As in, what codec does it use?
iMovie's native video format is DV, so it converts any imported video files to .dv before it can be used. This could be the reason.
Also, iMovie edits 640 x 480 video, so your Snapz movie, if it's rather small in terms of resolution/size, could be stretched out when brought into iMovie.

I am having similar issues using Final Cut Pro 4. Viewing the video in QT, everything looks great, but in FCP the image is fuzzy. FCP does not try to resize the video (though does add a black background to make the standard NTSC dimensions). You can see this by putting the two videos side by side. My Snapz video is fully rendered in FCP. Any other suggestions?
My main problem is that the training video I am making needs to be clear enough that the audience can read the text. This distortion makes reading text in video very difficult.
Videotaping a LCD screen also works, though the color is not nearly as accurate and it takes some effort in post to get things right.

I have a quality problem with FCP4 too, though it's not from importing. When I export the quality on the text made in LiveType drops drastically.

Is the quality bad in your external monitor as well as your canvas window? If you aren't looking at the image in an external monitor then you don't have a very good system worked out. The canvas gives you a rough idea of what your movie will look like, but it is not usually full quality. It shows a lower quality version to preserve internal systme bandwidth. If you want to know what it's going to look like on a television you'll have to verify it on one.

Yes, I am viewing my video in an external monitor. I even printed to tape to make sure I was viewing the full quality version. Text still seems blurry.
My system setup is a Dual 1.25 G4 w/ 1.25 GB RAM, dual headed with an external monitor, I use a Sony PD-150 as a DV deck.
