This one's odd...Whenever I go to import some DV through my Canopus ADVC-100, Final Cut locks up after about 5 minutes of recording...it's not always the same time. I have a VHS tape deck running through the ADVC with the DV going into a FireWire port on my Dual 1 GHz G4, the video out going to a separate LCD, and the audio going through a mixer to speakers (so I can see and hear what's going on. While importing, FCP doesn't play back the audio from DV...should it?). I have the prefs set to not stop importing if it drops a frame..that gets annoying. I'll just be capturing...then the video onscreen stops and the app beachballs. Any idea why? I'm guessing it's because the VHS has no timecode and it's confusing FCP...but that's why I got the Canopus.
(My drives should be fast enough...I'm capturing to an internal ATA drive.)
