Does anyone know what the new "IAC Driver" is and what it is doing in Audio MIDI Setup in OS 10.3?

IAC=Inter Application Control

It is a virtual midi port that is available to route MIDI between apps.

Amongst other things, GarageBand uses it to get MIDI input.

I can understand that GB could use it, but why would it have to? You should be able to use any MIDI interface with GB.
