I have a Sony DCR-TRV11, and well it won't work with my iMac. I took it to get repaired, cause I noticed the firewire pins on it were bent and one was missing, though the guy at the place I took it to managed to get it to work with his PC, odd. Anyway, I went to the Sony site to see if I needed drivers or something, well THERE ARE NO MAC DRIVERS FOR SONY CAMERAS! And the camera is on the compatibility list, so WTF!?

I have the TRV-11 and the same iMac as you. Everything works fine for me. Just plug it in and everything works. No drivers necessary. Maybe update your iMovie?

Oh, there was a point in time that it wouldnt work at all, and that turned out to be a fried logic board (firewire ports dead). Do you have another firewire device that does work?

That said, I am starting to dislike the camera. Although I have put it through hell, Its gone back to Sony 3 times for the same problem and is showing faint signs of a 4th trip.

Do you have an iSight? Unplug it if you do.

did you try to unplug all your other firewire devices before trying the camera. In the past, I have had some firewire devices confict with my dv deck.

That can't be it, I already tried my cousin's camera, it worked fine.
