I was just wondering what is the best way to capture to an external hard drive. Should I plug camera into the powerbook, have the external drive connected to the powerbook and capture directly to the hard drive? Also, can you use the external hard drive for you scratch disk? Any inputs would help. Thanks.

It should work just fine to capture directly from your camera to your external drive. I do it all the time from my dv deck.

I would have both the camera and the HD plugged into the powerbook as opposed to the camera plugged into the HD.
