I have Quicktime Pro version 6.5, I downloaded the MPEG-2 playback package. It was for version 6.4 or higher, thats what it said anyway.
Yet everytime I try to open an MPEG2 video file it throws an error that says "A software component needed by the file could not be opened".

Anyone else have problems like this and know how to fix it? I'm about to the point where I'll downgrade back to version 6.0 or whatever just to be able to open the damn files.

Problem solved...sort of. Seems that when you upgrade to 6.5 or 6.4 the MPEG-2 component expires after December. I turned the year back on my comp and it worked fine.
