I made a movie 4 on my powerbook but I dont have a superdrive.
Is there some way I can transfer it to my PC where I have pinnacle 7 and burn it using its DVD burner? I tried exporting a full quality dv file but pinnacle would not import it.

Thanks

Export it as a quicktime file and transfer it over ethernet to your PC. Then you can can burn it to a DVD.

Pinnacle Studio 7 doesn't support QT. You'll have to convert your video to avi, mpeg1, or mpeg2. Preferably, I'd ditch Pinnacle Studio 7 and replace it with Ulead Video Studio 7 or Ulead DVD MovieFactory. Both support QT files.

The best quality would be capturing with the pc in dv-avi format which is basically the same as dv for Mac. That not being an option, exporting QT (.mov) would probably be the most efficient for the Mac. Exporting as uncompressed avi would be best. Either way, an mpeg2 rerender of the exported file will be made by the app in preparation for burning to dvd. You'll have to fiddle with bitrate and vbr/cbr settings and balance playback smoothness with picture quality to get the best balance. Otherwise, rerendering an already compressed format such as QT/mpeg would look pretty bad. There are preset project templates. But they may not meet your quality control.

Rendering already compressed formats can be tricky, but not necessarily bad. Right now, I'm joining 8 separate mpeg2 sections of a The History Channel program and rerendering them as one large file. Here's a pic(357k jpeg):
