Hi,

Whenever I capture long sequences from DV into iMovie 4 it always starts a new clip every 9 minutes, 27 seconds and 12 frames! They fit back together seamlessly but it would be nice to have it as all one clip. This happens whether I select the option to start a new clip for every scene or not.

Is this a bug, or is there something I can do to prevent it?

Thanks,

Matt

If you take a close look at the files generated by the clip, you will notice that it is extremely close to 2GB in size.....I think OSX has a 2GB file size limit per file. iMovie is "smart" enough to break up the clips into files that aren't too big for the OS.

Thanks, I thought it might be something like that!

certainly not, but iMovie does that just in case some other piece of software that might want to use the files does have such a limit. Also, common sense says you break the files up into chunks after a certain size, and that size might as well be 2 GB (I think 2 GB is the max you can address with just normal a signed int or something)
