I am trying to capture (my wedding) video from my Panasonic NV-HD660B video cassette recorder using my ADVC-100 converter, which is linked, in turn, to my 17" Powerbook running OSX (10.3.3).

Although I am able to capture video (using iMovie), the picture is black and white only. I am unable to get colour. Sound is OK, however.

My VCR is connected to the Canopus using a Scart out plug from the video, leading to an S-Video and Left and Right Audio plug going into the Canopus. The Canopus is connected to my Powerbook using a firewire lead.

I have tested the lead using it from the video to my TV using S-video and composite audio inputs and things are fine, so the lead appears to work OK. I have also tried the S-video plug in both the front and back input sockets on the Canopus.

DIP switches on the Canopus are set as follows:

1 on
2 off
3 off
4 off
5 off
6 on

I have used the Canopus successfully when capturing video from my old video camera, but can't find the original film of my wedding so that avenue is closed: all I have is a cassette playable in my VCR.

Is there an incompatibility between my VCR and the Canopus, I wonder?

Are you able to help, please? Thanks.

The problem was caused by using the wrong lead. All is now well, so I can spend happy evenings putting old videos into some sort of watchable state.
