Is it possible to change the default glass-like UI (e.g., play button, volume) of embedded Quicktime audio or movie files so the end user sees the custom buttons? I'm guessing not, but it doesn't hurt to ask. I know you can manipulate the height and width etc, etc.

Actually, Quicktime player is skinnable--I believe that started with QuickTime 4. See more about it here, on Apple's Developer Site.
