I only have limited access to - and experience with - cleaner at school. I've used it to make a few mpgs with the default vcd settings. They look good but they don't play back worth a crap! Well, allright, they do play OK, but if I jump around in the timeline the timeline will show the new time but video and audio sticks. Help please?

Cleaner Mpeg1 files don't play very well in QuickTime. They should play OK in Windows Media Player. It's a fault with Cleaner.
Unfortunatly it doesn't look like it will be fixed as Discreet aren't developing Cleaner at the moment - please post feedback on their web site and maybe they will sort it on a future release.

A better encoder for Mpeg1 is Heuris but it will set you back $600
