I have a hitachi mv 230a dvd cam. I can get the video to my PC via the propietary firewire and software, but there is nothing for the mac. Any suggestions as to how I can get the digital video from the camera to my powerbook.

I tried just connecting the firewire and see if it would be recognized, but that did not work.

Any suggestions?

Could I use the s-video cord? Not sure where that would connect to the pb. How about some sort of avi out cord connected to the pb. Is there some way to accomplish this.

The camera has a s-video port, an a/v port and a firewire.
