I'm in serious need of some expertise Imovie help!
I've been working on a project for about 3 months. Then today the program kinda lagged (you know, the coulery ball) and I ended up force quitting it.
When I tried to open the project after that event, I get the message, that my project file can't be read!?!?!?! It simply WON'T OPEN MY PROJECT!!

WTF!!!!??

This project have great value to me, and it is extremely important that I get back on track with it!
So I would appreciate very, VERY much some help! Or at least some links to where you think I can get help..

Thx...

I've had that problem before too. Not much else is this frustrating. iMovie simply cant handle too big of files. too many edits, ect. Always work in 20 mins chunks, then export your "finsihed" segments out to miniDV tape. Then when its all done (in the chunks) import them all back in fully editied and put them together. Works like a charm if not a pain in the butt.

Now you can either open it with Final Cut express or start over Open it and export if out somehow whether to tape or a QT movie. I'm a full advocate of "borrowing" a program like that just so you can get it to work in the program you own when your in a pinch if you cant afford it. (I didnt say that)

past that, best of luck to you.

I do not have it on a backup. But I re did the whole thing, and now I have recovered it all. I'm still a little frustrated that something like that can happen.. From now on I'll be more carefull to Force Quit my apps... Lesson learned.

I think you are learning the wrong lesson. ALWAYS HAVE BACKUPS!

(especially if it has taken you three months)

Yup. Always back up. Buy an external FW drive and back up to it once a week, or at least burn a backup dvd or two once every month or two.

This is far less time consuming and costly than having to redo lost projects. Remember, there are only TWO types of computer users... those who have had a hard drive crash, and those who will!

Glad it all worked out for you in the end,

James
