I'm hoping that someone here can guide me or at least point me in the right direction to where I can get some help.
Here is what I need to do....

I have a Mac G5 2GH and a Sony 42" Grand WEGA LCD Rear Projection TV

I'm a photographer and would like to show my clients their images on the TV

When I connect the two (I've tried every combo I can think of) the computer recognizes the device but the image is extremely poor. Very pixelated - a little washed out. I've tried changing resolutions, connections and everything I can think of.

Can someone please hold my hand and walk me through what I need to do to get this to work.

Thanks in advance

Your HDTV doesn't have a VGA/SVGA input. How are you feeding video from your PowerMac into your HDTV?

However you're doing it, keep in mind that the resolution requirements are going to be higher for that type of monitor than a standard TV. Your image resolutions need to be in the area of 1900X1100. Otherwise you'll be blowing up pixels to fill the screen . . . resulting in quality loss.

Sorry it's been so long for a reply.
Call out of town for family business

I've tried connecting them two different ways:
1) DVI to DVI
2) VGA from computer (via ACD-VGA adapter) through a TView scan converter (borrowed from a friend ) into either the S-Video or component on the TV

A buddy of mine who recently had a home theatre installed said he had to use a program called PowerStrip. Of course it's only for windows.

See this link:
http://www.entechtaiwan.net/util/ps.shtm

The VGA route looks the better of the two options when I mirror the images at 800x600 and take the refresh rate on the TV down to 60 hertz.

Anyone have any ideas or where I could turn to?

Thanks

Is your PowerMac G5's DVI port HDCP copy-protection compliant?

In that case, I think I know the reason for your problem. Your new Sony HDTV has a DVI input port with HDCP copy protection. As far as I know, your PowerMac G5 does not have a corresponding DHCP-compliant DVI output port. What this means is that your HDTV’s built-in copy protection is blurring the signal from your PowerMac in a manner similar to Macrovision for DVD players. This explains why the VGA scan-converter displays a better image than the superior DVI connection.

I don’t know if there’s an OS X hardware or software solution to the problem.

Seems that I was wrong: according to the following websites, if the cable box or DVD player is capable of outputting HD quality signals and is not using the HDCP encryption yet, you should still be able to use your DVI connection to watch high-definition content.

So... what resolution do you run when you hook it up via DVI? Have you tried setting up a color profile for the TV (System Prefs->Displays->Color and then calibrate with advanced settings).
