Sony HT-DDW740 Surround Sound Kit. Need Help

Well i have a Sony HT-DDW740 Surround Sound... So i decided to get the surround sound pack thing for the xbox. when i plugged my Optic cable in the surround sound is messing around... it keep flashing things like Surround Sound 1/3. and theres little blox where it shows speekers and that on it and sometimes they go away when the sounds screwing up. can anyone help me with this?
