Hi All, I need help burning cd's of music I have ripped off old tapes. Is there a way to equalize the volume levels during a burn, I do not want to re-rip my tapes.
thanks

Just use a two track editor or DAW program, and use a "Limiter" plugin like the Waves L1 or L2(theres a few other plugins also, besides Waves available) to jack up the sound to be almost as hot as you hear on commercial CDs. Burn these processed files to an Audio CD or save them on your harddrive, and you will have some pretty nicely, hot levelled recordings. Don't go overboard with it, or it will sound like crap.

Also, sound level, and equalization are two seperate things. You can also "EQ" the tracks if you'd like, but do it before the final "Limiting", if you chose to EQ it.

Pachead thanks for the reply but that seems a little more complicated than what I need. I am looking for something like soundcheck that's built into Itunes but that would also work on a cd burn.
I just have the odd song that sounds quieter compared to others when burnt to cd.
Thanks.

If you just want to keep it simple, have you checked out Jam ? That seems like it will do what you are looking for in a very simple way. You just open jam, import your audio that you want to burn to CD, and it will let you adjust volumes or even normalize the tracks if you so desire. Jam is by Roxio, same dudes who make Toast.
