I'm crying right now..
I've worked on a dvd project for a year now. I had it all edited in Imovie, it's about 30 min long. Then i made a idvd project from imovie. Then I have made all these other nice clips and dragged them into the idvd project. There's about 1 hour total.

BUT!!! Then i want it burned out, so I can share it with my freinds. I click burn, and waits about 9 ****ING HOURS!! But as far as I've heard that's pretty normal with a dvdburner at 2x..

BUT BUT!!!! after 9 looooong hours suddenly a message says (this is translated from danish, may not be fully correct!)
"An error was made under the burning. The unit that burned the dvd reported a error: "Bufferunderrun (or something, don't know the english term) (0x21, 0x02.)


I'm absolutey crushed! My expectations were skyhigh, and then idvd brings me this?!?!

The strange thing is that when i put the "errored" disc in my player, it automaticly starts the first project i made in Imovie. The one, the whole idvd project is based on.
And when I press "title" it actually goes out in the menues I have created, and shows the animation+plays the background music.
BUT then again, I my player just frezzes when I try to click some of my later added clips...


Please Please PLEASE help me! I'm on my knees begging someone to tell me how the hell I can save my project...

What OS you using, what machine, and version of iDVD. Also It could be the media. Try a different brand of DVD-R disc. Were you using DVD-R or DVD+R media? My 10 minute long video took 1 hour to burn.

Three tips: Quit any running apps and disable sleep/screensaver before burning. Second, make sure you have at least 4GB of free HD before burning. Third, turn caps lock off before creating Forum thread titles.

In addition to these excellent tips, walk away from the computer. dont do anything on your machine. A buffer underrun (I think) means the machine couldnt feed the burner information fast enough because it was busy doing other stuff as well.

I just finished a longish DVD myself. One 15 minute movie and 12 slideshows. The Rendering crap took about 4 hours, the burn actually took about 25 minutes. iMac 800, 768 RAM, iDVD 4.

My specs are:
OSX 1.3.4

Dual 1.42 G4
1.5 GB DDR SDRAM

So it's not the specs that are bad... I'm using iDVD 4.
Thx for all the great advice..! I have rebuild my whole project from the button.. And i have moved all the files to one harddisk instead of them being spread all over the computer..
And I have erased many files, so there is around 15 gb on the disk where iDVD is located.

So now I'm gonna follow the rest of your advice, and try to burn the dvd this night. I'll give some feedback, if it has succed or whatever the news are...

It worked I think it was the hardisk space taht was the problem.. When it didn't worked I had 2,23, and then after deleting all kind of files, it worked perfectly
